Driver License Restoration Attorney in Michigan

License Restoration

Driving is a necessary part of life for most of us, but we must remember that it is a privilege, not a right. With the great deal of responsibility involved, the Michigan state law provides that those drivers who do not follow the rules may have their licenses suspended or revoked. If your license is suspended or revoked, you may be able to get it back through a proceeding called a license appeal. I have decades of experience handling license appeals for clients who have had their licenses taken away for a variety of reasons, including drunk driving and other violations.

If your license has been revoked as the result of a drunk driving incident, you will have to pursue a license appeal with the Secretary of State. The Driver Assessment and Appeal Division of the Secretary of State’s office handles all of these appeals in a uniform process. I handle these types of cases, starting with an initial evaluation to determine if the facts create eligibility for this appeal. I also guide each client through the process within the designated time period, as well as prepare him or her for the hearing and represent him or her before the court. I will invest the necessary time to have everything complete and submitted to the Secretary of State before the hearing. After the hearing is done, we will receive a notice of privileges within a few short days - if not right after the hearing.

It is important to remember that only one hearing is allowed in a year, and you should therefore focus on doing everything in your power to get it right the first time, including hiring an experienced attorney. I am accessible to each client to explain the process and address any and all questions or concerns.

Why are your chances better with me?

My first license appeal was approximately 20 years ago. I remember not having a clue about what was going to happen, how the hearing was going to go or what the hearing officer was going to consider as “important.” You do not want your case to be the first license appeal an attorney has handled. After many, many appeals, I am well acquainted with all the requirements, all the evidence and all the follow-up questions the hearing officers ask. This is a distinct advantage to you.

If your license has been suspended or revoked for any reason, you may be able to get it back. But, license restoration can be a confusing process. With the help of a skilled attorney, you can get back on the road legally in a short amount of time.
